Welcome to this AI Ad Studio — Posters & Visuals That Sell course. By the end of this program, your goal is to produce professional advertising visuals, ready for distribution, without going through a designer or a paid stock photo library. This first module lays the groundwork: understanding the landscape of AI image generators, so you can choose the right tool at the right time instead of locking yourself into just one. Four tools come up constantly throughout this course. Midjourney, accessed through a messaging app called Discord, known for the aesthetic quality and artistic rendering of its images — often the default choice for a poster that needs to stand out. DALL-E, developed by OpenAI and built into ChatGPT, easier to pick up, with a good understanding of the prompt's text and a decent ability to insert readable text into the image, which is rare among its competitors. Adobe Firefly, integrated directly into Photoshop and Illustrator, trained on content with clear rights, a real advantage when the use is commercial. And Canva, which isn't a pure generator but a design platform that now includes an image generator, with the huge advantage of letting you compose, edit and adapt your visual without switching tools. None of these four tools is strictly better than the others — each has its own strengths. Midjourney excels at artistic style and strong visual mood. DALL-E excels at faithfulness to the prompt's text and text insertion. Firefly excels at legal safety for commercial use. Canva excels at production speed and integration with the rest of the workflow, from generated visual to finished poster. Take a concrete example: a natural cosmetics brand based in Abidjan wants a poster for a new shea-butter-based line. If the goal is an aesthetic, evocative image for social media, Midjourney is a good starting point. If the poster needs to include a readable slogan directly in the generated visual, DALL-E or Firefly with its guided-text feature will do a more reliable job. And if the brand then wants to adapt this visual into ten different formats for Instagram, Facebook and a web banner, Canva becomes the final production tool, even if the base image comes from elsewhere. The skill this module develops isn't "learn one tool", but "know which one to choose based on the real need: pure aesthetics, embedded text, legal safety, or production speed". You'll practice this evaluation concretely in the exercise that follows, testing the same brief on two different tools and honestly comparing the results — not to declare one absolutely "the best", but to determine which one best suits this specific brief.
